Devon Air Ambulance Trust announced as Coleman Exeter Charity of the Year
The Exeter office of Coleman Insurance Brokers has chosen its client, Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT), as their nominated charity of the year for 2016 after a visit to the DAAT's Exeter Airbase where Regional Director, Mike Rollason (pictured) and Marketing Manager, Ollie Parkinson met with Corporate Fundraiser, Tracy Owen and chatted with pilots and paramedics.
Steve Risk said, “We are proud to have worked with the DAAT since 2008 to insure their aircraft. These have now been upgraded to the Eurocopter EC135’s and we have enjoyed working closely with the Trust to ensure that the insurance coverage in place remains appropriate and robust and to make sure that we are on hand for the Trust 24/7, all year round.”
Mike Rollason commented, “It was amazing to learn about the incredible work that Devon Air Ambulance carry out each year and the numerous outstanding missions that they perform to relieve sickness and injury in and around the county of Devon. I was particularly impressed and interested to see the state of the art Eurocopters that they use and to hear about the plans to extend the operating hours of the aircraft.”
Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director of Devon Air Ambulance Trust, enthused, “We are thrilled to hear Coleman Insurance Brokers will continue to support DAAT as we enter this exciting year for our service. Beginning in the autumn, we will be flying into the hours of darkness, and this wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of organisations like Coleman. From insuring our helicopters to sponsoring our 2016 what’s on guide and more, we are grateful for their diverse support.”
Every year DAAT needs to raise £5.5 million to run its services. In addition the charity also needs to build capital funds in order to ensure that its aircraft can be replaced after ten years’ of operation and to meet significant maintenance and repair costs. The Trust is also investing in the clinical development of their crew to further enhance the service.
Mike concluded, “Coleman are delighted to be supporting such a worth-while cause and really hope that over the next year that we can help to make a real positive difference to the charity.”
