Coleman Cup Ladies Tennis Tournament at Exmouth Lawn Tennis Club
Exmouth Lawn Tennis Club was proud to host its first ever ladies open grass court tournament – the Coleman Cup – on Friday 8th July. The Club looked very welcoming, decked out with bunting and fresh flower displays, with the grass freshly cut and lined out and car parking arranged nearby courtesy of Exmouth Cricket Club. There were 24 players, travelling from an area ranging from Bovey Tracey to Sidford.
Players were welcomed with coffee and biscuits before the tennis started at 10.00 a.m., with an interval for lunch and a glass of Pimms, plus a raffle in aid of the Devon Air Ambulance which raised over £65.00. The afternoon saw the quarter and semi-finals take place followed by the final and a plate event.
Mike Rollason, Head of Exeter Office at Coleman Insurance Brokers, presented the Coleman Cup to the ultimate winners, Kate Truman and Vicki Topping of Sidmouth, and the Coleman plate to Liz Griffiths and Margaret Turgoose of Lympstone.
Mike truly entered into the spirit of the event, rising to the challenge of an unscheduled game with fellow Coleman colleague and Tournament participant Sylvia Jane.
Sincere thanks must go to Bryan Radford – a member of Exeter Camera Club who generously donated his time to the club for the dayand provided such lively and informative photos.
Exmouth Lawn Tennis Club was delighted that the day proved so successful and intend to make this an annual event.
